2002 Winter Olympics - Salt Lake City, Utah
As [itvt] first reported in early December, the BBC plans to provide a full ITV application for the 2002 Winter Olympics, taking place February 8th through 25th in Salt Lake City, Utah. Different versions of the application will be provided for a) SkyDigital subscribers, and b) Telewest, ntl, and ITV Digital subscribers. According to a BBC spokesperson, in order to access the app on SkyDigital, the viewer must press the red key on the remote, which will take him/her to a multiscreen portal (similar to the Wimbledon application seen earlier this year) showing live streams of 3 different events. By pressing the text key and choosing "Winter Olympics" from the Sport menu options, the viewer will be able to access highlights from the previous night; and by selecting the blue button, s/he will be able to access the latest results and a schedule of upcoming events. On Telewest, ntl, and ITV Digital, the application will enhance broadcasts with news and information, but will not provide additional video streams.
