Belgian interactive TV technology provider, Zappware, contacted [itvt] Wednesday to let us know that it has deployed its iView middleware platform with Slovenian telecom operator, Amis. The platform is powering a service, called AmisTV2.0, which launched commercially last September in Slovenia and Croatia and which offers such services as network PVR, pause-live-TV, restart TV, catch-up TV, and an EPG, as well as VOD services that feature reminders, favorites, user profiles, application skinning, search and parental ratings.
--Company Secures New Investment to Fund its Expansion Plans
Belgian interactive television technology provider, Zappware (note: the company last year appointed Patrick Vos, who had headed up its international sales efforts, as CEO, in what it said was part of an ongoing strategy to focus more on international markets--see [itvt] Issue 8.23 Part 1), announced Tuesday that it has signed a deal with an undisclosed "telecom operator active in two countries belonging to what was formerly known as Yugoslavia."

SoftAtHome, a company created by France Telecom-subsidiary, Orange, with the stated goal of helping service providers deliver convergent applications for the digital home, announced Thursday that a number of companies--including such European interactive TV stalwarts as httv, Accedo Broadband, Visiware and Zappware--are "investing resources" in its SoftAtHome Operating Platform, and/or using the platform's free software development kit to build applications for it.
--Zappware Supplies ITV Apps to Four Flemish Regional TV Stations
Belgian interactive TV technology provider, Zappware (note: the company recently appointed Patrick Vos, who had headed up its international sales efforts, as CEO, in what it said was part of an ongoing strategy to focus more on international markets--see [itvt] Issue 8.23 Part 1), announced last month that it has been selected by Nagravision, a Kudelski Group-owned provider of content-security technology, to help develop a custom suite of interactive TV applications for use with VOD and VOD-related services. The applications, which will be part of Nagravision's NagraGuide suite of interactive apps, will include VOD catalog, catch-up TV, and start-over TV apps.

Belgian interactive TV technology provider, Zappware, has been
tapped by Flemish-language commercial broadcaster, Vitaya, to
develop an interactive digital teletext service (note: Vitaya targets what
it describes as "young active women situated in the higher social
classes" with a range of lifestyle programming on such topics as health,
food, family, home, garden, fashion, leisure and travel). The new
service, dubbed "Vitaya Digitext" and based on Zappware's Digital
Teletext iFormat, is available on the digital TV platform of cable
operator, Telenet. It features news and other information (including
program, health, lifestyle and travel info), recipes (of the week, month
