Verimatrix Teams with I-Systems to Deploy DVB-C/IPTV Hybrid Pay-TV System for Chilean Operator

--Deployment Also Employs GoBackTV Middleware and VOD Servers, Xavi Set-Top Boxes

Content security specialist, Verimatrix, said Tuesday that it has teamed with Santiago, Chile-based systems integrator, I-Systems, to deploy a hybrid DVB-C/IPTV system for Chilean operator, Gtd Manquehue. According to the company, I-Systems is using its Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for DVB as part of a digital TV platform that includes middleware and VOD servers from GoBackTV and hybrid set-top boxes from Xavi.

TelstraClear Taps Digisoft, Verimatrix to Develop PVR-Enabled Advanced Set-Top Box

TelstraClear, a New Zealand-based subsidiary of Australian telecommunications company, Telstra, that offers triple-play services in Wellington, Christchurch and Kapiti, said Monday that it has tapped Irish IPTV technology provider, Digisoft.tv, and US content protection specialist, Verimatrix, to jointly develop a hybrid HD DVB-C set-top box with PVR capabilities and support for IPTV that it will offer to its cable customers. The box is intended to compete against the TiVo-based platform that rival operator, Telecom New Zealand is planning to launch later this year.

New Over-the-Top Service, ZillionTV, in Deals with Verimatrix, Inlet

Studio-backed, subscription-free, "over-the-top" on-demand TV service, ZillionTV, said Monday that it has deployed Verimatrix's Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for IPTV to enable secure delivery of its on-demand programming offerings over the Internet. Verimatrix bills the software-based VCAS technology as providing the encryption needed to protect content from widespread piracy and enable a wide choice of consumer viewing options.
