Canadian cable operator, Rogers Communications, on Monday announced the widespread availability of the beta version of Rogers On Demand Online, its initial implementation of the so-called "TV Everywhere" distribution model (note: the "TV Everywhere" distribution model seeks, via authentication technology, to make programming that pay-TV customers have already paid for through their cable, satellite or IPTV subscriptions available to those customers on multiple Web sites and platforms, and thus aims to head off the threat posed to pay-TV services by the increasing availability of over-the-top programming--for some background on TV Everywhere, see the articles published on itvt.co
Comcast-owned white-label video management company, thePlatform (note: the company recently announced a major expansion of its partner program--see the article published on itvt.com, September 9th), said Monday that it has been tapped by Travel Channel Media to manage and publish broadband video for Web and mobile.
Comcast-owned white-label video management and publishing company, thePlatform, will announce today (Thursday) that 20 more companies--including Google (AdSense)--have recently jointed its thePlatform Framework partner program. According to the company, the vast majority of these partners' newly integrated solutions are currently in production or trial with its customers. thePlatform says that the ongoing growth of the partner program means that its open Media Publishing System (MPS) now has an "even broader menu of pre-integrated service and technology choices to serve the professional online video market."

In a recent keynote at the Contentonomics conference in Los Angeles, Ian Blaine, CEO of Comcast-owned white-label broadband video publishing company, thePlatform, revealed that the company's clients, according to figures from comScore's Video Metrix, had a combined total of 329 million video views in July. According to Blaine, this means that only two other US companies handle a larger volume of video than thePlatform: Google (including YouTube) and Fox Interactive Media (including MySpace), which rank first and second respectively.

thePlatform, has been tapped by Time Warner Cable, the second-largest
cable operator in the US, to provide the central backend video
management system for its Road Runner broadband Web portal (note:
thePlatform's system is also used by Cablevision and Cox, and, of
course, by Comcast itself). Under the terms of the companies' deal,
thePlatform will aggregate and publish video content and associated
advertising for the portal, and Time Warner Cable will have access to
thePlatform's media player tools, in order to create video channels and
