Total Immersion Creates Interactive Augmented Reality Applications for Paramount, Fox, Universal

Augmented reality specialist, Total Immersion, recently contacted [itvt] to let us know about some of the interactive AR applications it has completed over the past few months. The apps are all triggered by holding up a movie or album's packaging in front of a Webcam, which allows a hidden visual code to launch the app:

--Series, Written by Hayden Black, Will Have Exclusive First Run on Dailymotion

Paris, France-based broadband video company, Dailymotion (note: the company claims that over 15,000 new videos are uploaded to its network of 18 localized sites each day), announced Tuesday that Nichelle Nichols, who played Lieutenant Uhura on the original "Star Trek," has joined the cast of "The Cabonauts," a 15-part original Web series (each episode will be 10 minutes long) that the company is launching in partnership with Evil Global Corp.

Shaw to Offer Over 600 "Star Trek" Episodes on its VOD Platform

Canadian cable MSO, Shaw Communications, announced plans Friday to offer over 600 episodes of the seminal sci-fi franchise, "Star Trek"--including re-mastered high-definition episodes of the original "Star Trek" series--on its VOD service between May and July, following a deal with CBS Paramount International Television (note: the latest movie in the "Star Trek" franchise, entitled simply "Star Trek" and directed by JJ Abrams, will be released in theaters May 7th). According to the operator, each "Star Trek" series covered by the deal will be available on the service for six months. "Shaw is going where no one has gone before," Shaw president, Peter Bissonnette, said in a prepared statement.
