BBC is using its Red Button interactive TV platform to enhance its coverage of the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. After Friday's wedding, BBC viewers will be able to watch highlights from the event for up to one week by pressing the Red Button. The BBC last week announced plans to offer four original "intera ctive episodes" of its long-running scifi series, "Doctor Who." Entitled "Doctor Who--The Adventure Games" and available free of charge on bbc.co.uk/doctorwho, the "interactive episodes" will take the form of downloadable computer games for PC and Mac that will allow players to assume control of The Doctor and his human sidekick, Amy, as they embark on new adventures that complement the latest season of the TV series, the corporation says.

The BBC announced last week the line-up of content that will be available through its red-button interactive TV service for the next two weeks and beyond:
--BBC Exec: One Goal of Salford Move Will Be to Build "Center of Expertise" in IP-Based Interactive TV
The BBC said Wednesday that "Dreamland," a new, six-part animated series based on its long-running sci-fi program, "Doctor Who" (note: for some background on the show, see the article published on itvt.com, August 24th), will premiere daily on its BBC Red Button interactive TV service and on its "Doctor Who" Web site (bbc.co.uk/doctorwho), starting Saturday, November 21st.
--Freeview Viewers Will Lose Access to BBC News Multiscreen, October 27th
The BBC announced Tuesday that, due to its commitment to launching HD broadcast channels on the UK's free-to-air digital terrestrial platform, Freeview, which involves rearranging the existing SD channels on that platform, it will have to switch off two (including channel 302) of the three interactive streams it uses on Freeview to deliver red-button content.
--Corporation also Launches Audio-Described Programming on the BBC iPlayer
In a posting on the BBC Red Button team's Press Red blog last week, Damian Vicary, interactive TV producer for BBC Children's, announced the launch of a revamped red-button interactive TV service for CBeebies, the BBC's digital channel for children six and under. Among other things, the new version of the service (which is accessed by pressing red while watching CBeebies) features:
