Rovi's Media Networking Software Will Enable CE Devices to Play Content from Windows 7 PC's

Rovi (formerly Macrovision--for more on the company's name change and the repositioning it heralds, see the interview with Rovi chief evangelist, Richard Bullwinkle, that was published on itvt.com, July 16th) announced Tuesday that consumers using devices built with the latest version of the Rovi Connected Platform media networking software will be able to find, play and share content--including movies, TV shows, music and photos--from Windows 7-based PC's.

NBC's ChuckMeOut.com Offers "Chuck" Fans Range of Video, Interactive and Social Features

--Site Designed to Maintain Interest in Show During its Hiatus

Broadcast network, NBC, has launched a Web site--ChuckMeOut.com--with a range of broadband video, and interactive and social enhancements to maintain interest in its comedy show, "Chuck," during its hiatus (note: the show, which was renewed for a third season after a two-month "Save Chuck" campaign organized by its fans, is set to return to the air following the 2010 Winter Olympics).

New UK Cartoon Network Web Site to Offer Interactivity, Social Networking, Personalization

 

Turner Broadcasting announced Wednesday that it will launch a new UK Web site for its Cartoon Network children's channel, June 16th, that will heavily feature interactivity, community and personalization. Among other things, Turner says, the site will offer a social-networking service, called "My CN," that will allow children to interact "safely" with one another, using a range of pre-selected statements and messages. Visitors to the site will also be able to customize its look, using it a selection of backgrounds; choose avatars based on various Cartoon Network characters; chat with their friends; and play games to win virtual prizes.
