TiVo in Strategic Partnership with Suddenlink

--Partnership Announcement Reveals that TiVo Is Developing Non-DVR Client Set-Top Boxes

TiVo last week announced that it has entered into a strategic agreement with Suddenlink, the eighth-largest cable company in the US, that calls for the latter to deploy co-branded TiVo Premiere DVR's (note: TiVo bills the Premiere as combining linear TV, DVR, VOD and Internet-delivered video into a unified experience delivered via an Adobe Flash-based user interface), as well as TiVo-developed non-DVR client set-top boxes. This represents the first time that TiVo has provided an operator with non-DVR hardware.

Digeo Launches Moxi Mate, Enabling Multi-Room Functionality for its Moxi HD DVR

Paul Allen-owned set-top box vendor, Digeo, on Tuesday launched the Moxi Mate, a companion thin-client device for its flagship Moxi HD DVR that provides the latter with multi-room capabilities.

Cox Communications Announces Plans for Multi-Room DVR Service

--Launches MyPrimetime VOD Service in Two More Markets

Cox Communications, the US's third-largest cable MSO, announced Monday that it plans to offer a multi-room service for its DVR customers. According to the company, the new service will allow viewing of DVR-recorded content throughout the home in both standard- and high-definition, and will be based on a device that will include a larger hard drive than the company's current DVR (the device will enable multi-room DVR by working in conjunction with non-DVR receivers located in other rooms). The service will also use Cox's next-generation guide, which was developed in collaboration with NDS and which the MSO bills as offering new personalization and search options, in addition to various interactive features.

Motorola Develops tru2way Multi-Room DVR Solution for Time Warner Cable

--Round-Up of Recent Interactive TV-Related News from Motorola

Motorola announced last week that it has been tapped by Time Warner Cable, the second-largest cable MSO in the US, to develop a multi-room DVR solution based on Motorola tru2way set-top software. The company says that the so-called Follow Me TV solution will be deployed by Time Warner Cable later this year, making the latter the first cable operator to deploy a multi-room DVR service in a tru2way environment. It says it developed the multi-room DVR solution to work with tru2way software running on its DCX3400-M and DCX3200-M set-top boxes.
