Social TV firm Miso said it is seeing increased demand for its new SideShow product, which allows programmers, advertisers and distributors to deliver content to mobile phones and tablets that is synchronized with TV programming.

New York --- While connected TVs and mobile devices may offer new revenue opportunities for advertisers, programmers, pay TV distributors and technology suppliers, it's still not clear how that revenue will be split among key players. That was a dominant theme here this week at the TVOT NYC Intensive.

In an effort to increase the amount of time Web surfers spend watching videos on its site, YouTube flipped the switch on a major redesign Thursday afternoon that emphasizes channels of content. The move comes one month after YouTube announced deals with dozens of independent producers to supply it with 100 channels of original programming. "We're trying very hard to marry the best of TV and the best of online," YouTube VP of product development Shishir Mehrotra said at an event at the company's San Bruno, Calif., headquarters. Six months after Yahoo acquired social TV startup IntoNow, the company launched a new IntoNow app for Apple's iPad. The app relies on automatic content recognition (ACR) technology to identify programs a viewer is watching, and lets the viewer share and recommend TV shows and movies to friends on Twitter or Facebook. IntoNow faces increased competition in the social TV space from Miso, GetGlue, and other companies.
