--Platform Lets Viewers Interact with Sponsored Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare Campaigns
[itvt] has just published an INTERVIEW with Chris Ulmer, director of application solutions at interactive TV software specialist, Alticast (note: the company's areas of expertise include DVB-MHP, OCAP/tru2way, EBIF, IPTV and mobile TV), and Anne Dirkse, Alticast's director of technical services, application solutions.
Interactive TV software specialist Alticast's Alticast Taiwan arm said Tuesday that it has launched ITV casual games from Icareus Studios, the ITV content production arm of Finnish ITV specialist, Icareus, on Taiwanese cable operator KBro's MHP-based platform (note: for more on Alticast's work on the platform, see the article published on itvt.com, October 7th, 2008). KBro--which is controlled by the Carlyle Group--is Taiwan's largest MSO, with 12 cable systems and 1.1 million subscribers--around 120,000 of which currently have interactive TV-enabled set-top boxes.
US cable-industry research, development and standards organization, CableLabs, has provided some information on the technologies that were featured at its Innovation Showcase, Monday. The Innovation Showcase, which was part of CableLabs' Summer Conference, saw 11 companies pitching new technologies to conference attendees, who then voted for the one they deemed most likely to succeed in the marketplace. The winner was BelAir Networks' new BelAir100SP Strand Picocell (see below):
--Event Sought to Prove Interoperability of SCTE-130 Interfaces, Develop Profiles for SCTE-130 and SaFI
US cable-industry research, development and standardization body, CableLabs, is trumpeting the success of an Advanced Advertising Interop event it held, June 14th-18th, to prove interoperability, based on the SCTE-130 standard, across a number of advertising interfaces. The weeklong event was organized in partnership with SCTE DVS/Working Group 5, the SCTE committee charged with working on advanced advertising, and with Canoe Ventures, the company tasked with implementing the US cable industry's plans for interactive and addressable advertising.
