Interview: Ensequence's Mike Kelley and Verizon's Phil Santoro on FiOS TV's New ESPN Tournament Challenge App
Ensequence recently developed the ESPN Tournament Challenge TV App, an interactive TV app for Verizon FiOS TV and ESPN that allows fans to create and follow personalized tournament brackets during the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament ("March Madness").
Subscribers create or check their brackets by clicking on the "Widgets" button on the FiOS TV remote control, selecting "FiOS TV Widgets," and then selecting the ESPN Tournament Challenge icon under the Featured, Sports and Games categories. Once they launch the app, they can navigate between live tournament games and their personalized, updated brackets on the TV screen (note: they must finalize their bracket winner prior to the tip-off time of the first game in the tournament). They can also view
and fill out their brackets via tablet, computer or smartphone.
[itvt]'s Tracy Swedlow recently spoke to Ensequence's SVP of business development, programming and advertising, Mike Kelley, and to Verizon spokesperson, Phil Santoro, about the new app's functionality, the development process behind it, how the app--and single-screen interactive TV--fit into Verizon FiOS TV's business strategy, and more.
