At its annual Creative Arts awards ceremony in Los Angeles last Saturday, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the winners of the 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media. This year, the awards recognized creative achievement in two areas of interactive media endeavor: Fiction and Nonfiction:
The winner of the 2008 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media (Fiction) was The "Heroes" Digital Experience (NBC.com).
The winner of the 2008 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media (Nonfiction) was The Disney Channel Games Digital Media Event.
The finalists for each award were determined by members of the
Academy's Interactive Media Peer Group in an initial round of judging
that took place between June 23rd and July 14th. The winners were
then chosen by a Blue Ribbon panel in a second round of judging that
took place in Los Angeles on Thursday, August 21st.

In this recorded episode of [itvt]'s talk radio show, "The TV of
Tomorrow Show with Tracy Swedlow," Jesse Alexander,
co-executive producer and writer of "Heroes"; Joe Tolerico,
senior producer at NBC Universal; Mark Ryan, digital media lead
producer at the Disney Channel; Marcelino Ford-Livene and
David Jensen, co-governors of the Academy of Television Arts &
Sciences Interactive Media Peer Group; and Geoff Katz, the
Interactive Media Peer Group's Awards Committee chair, discuss this
year's winners and why they were chosen. Topics covered include the
importance of designing interactive media elements into a show from
the ground up (rather than as an afterthought); the impact of interactive
media experiences on viewership; successfully enabling audiences to
