If you weren’t one of the lucky 150 top level executives invited to attended The Social TV Summit last month, I am here to give you the scoop. The event occurred, not surprisingly, in a place which has housed many key players of whom have shaped the evolution of Hollywood. The Bel-Air Country Club was the perfect place for a summit dedicated to the discussion of Social TV and the opportunities Social Media is providing for networks, advertisers, and producers, among others, as well as the unique experience it can provide viewers.
The Social TV Summit condensed the top leaders in the Social TV and Social Media industry into one room for 10 hours worth of discussion. Although there is much more to discuss, I would like to take this time to highlight the “Top 3 Social Media Ideas” as voted and selected by industry professionals at the STS. Alright, my fellow Social Media-ites, here is the inside scoop:
In 3rd place: we have a tie between Los Angles based, SocialVibe and New York City based, Watchitoo. SocialVibe is a network that encourages its nearly 2 million members to leverage their social networks to raise money for charity. After setting up a profile and selecting a charity, you can, according to SocialVibe’s website, “complete and share branded activities to earn points, which translate into positive social impact via micro-donations via the member’s cause of choice.” Check out SocialVibe online at: http://www.socialvibe.com/ and follow them on Twitter: @SocialVibe
Tied in 3rd with SocialVibe for 3rd place is Watchitoo, a new and dynamic video collaboration platform. Watchitoo is the first collaboration platform that has the capability to be embedded into any website. With it’s patented multi-streaming technology, it is possible to have up to 25 active participants in a live-streaming conference. Additionally, Watchitoo provides powerful analytic and insight tools that can help the effectiveness of your streaming. I’m very thankful to Watchitoo for making the summit available to me and over 300 other people throughout the day. Catch Watchitoo on the web: http://watchitoo.com/ and on Twitter: @Watchitoo
Our 2nd place is TvTak, being dubbed the Shazam for video in real-time. You can find out about a TV show, film, or advertisement by simply taking a photo with you iPhone. TvTak will recognize where the image comes from and bring up further information regarding what it is you are watching. You can even share what you are watching across the social networks using this app. Unfortunately, this app is still in Beta testing, but if you’d like to join me as a Beta user, check out TvTak: http://www.tvtak.com and give a look to Twitter: @TvTak
And our winner is… SnappyTV. It is no surprise why this San Francisco based company took home the grand prize, so to speak. SnappyTV is a FREE app that you can download at iTunes. SnappyTV allows you to take a snapshot of what you are watching and upload it to Twitter or Facebook with a caption. SnappyTV allows you to see what others are saying about specific moments in TV. Don’t forget to check SnappyTV out online: http://snappytv.com and follow them on Twitter: @snappytvdotcom
