Grumbling About New Star Trek Movie - Am Cynical About It Until...

Talk about TV OF TOMORROW:  Haven't seen it yet, but what I have seen of the new Star Trek movie looks like it has completely lost its soul. But...not sure. Will see on Thursday at 7:00 PM debut at the Metreon in SF.

People who claim that they were never into Star Trek (see this all over Twitter), but now they might be into it because this film will be all action adventure and sex between Spock and Uhura (completely unbelievable in my opinion and so inconsistent with the original series), never got the point of Star Trek in the first place: They're just movie-watchers - not true lovers of the grandeur, power, portrayal, and messaging of Star Trek, which reaches far beyond the small screen and has become not only iconic, but highly powerful mythology and philosophy for Humankind.

Star Trek, therefore, is more than the sum of Paramount's profit and they had a big responsibility to communicate Gene Roddenberry's vision....We'll see if they did more than just provide a new, good-looking set, flashy special effects, and sex scenes, but I'm cynical so far until....
