Foxtel Launches Music Trivia ITV Game on its Gamesworld Service

Australian pay-TV provider, Foxtel (note: the company offers an array
of interactive TV services, powered by OpenTV middleware),
contacted [itvt] earlier this month to let us know that it has launched a
new ITV game on its Gamesworld service.
Entitled MAX Music Trivia
and developed by Two Way TV Australia (note: the latter holds the
rights to various ITV games and games technologies developed by
UK-based Two Way Media), the new game can be accessed directly
via the Gamesworld portal or by pressing the red button while watching
the MAX music channel. "By introducing MAX Music Trivia, Foxtel is
providing a fantastic new interactive quiz for music buffs," stated
Foxtel's executive director of sales and product development, Patrick
Delany. "This year Foxtel also added AFL and NRL Trivia to
Gamesworld for football fanatics, expanding the range of quiz topics
available to the whole family, and providing great value for our
subscribers."

The new game offers 25 new music-related questions each day, and it
can be played by up to four players. It is available free of charge every
Sunday from Midday to 3:00PM; at other times, standard Gamesworld
fees apply (note: Gamesworld--which offers three categories of games:
"Kids Family," "Brainteaser Trivia" and "Casino Sport"--allows
viewers to "single-play" any of its games for AUS$1.00; otherwise, it
charges AUS$6.95 for a monthly subscription to any one of its
categories, and AUS$16.95 for a monthly subscription to all three). In
order to promote the new game, Max is currently giving players the
chance to win an LG 42-inch plasma TV, by texting to a special
shortcode a gamecode that is displayed on screen at the end of each
game.

In other Foxtel news: The company has begun a software roll-out that
will progressively upgrade all Foxtel iQ2 DVR's with four-tuner
functionality. The roll-out started September 16th and should be
completed by December 1st, the company says.
