Just prior to the announcement of its acquisition by Espial (see article
in this issue), IPTV and VOD technology provider, Kasenna,
announced that Content-House, a provider of interactive TV and PC
services to Russian broadband operators, is using its MediaBase video
server software and its LivingRoom middleware to deliver VOD
services to telcos and their customers across Russia.
Content-House's IPTV service is designed to enable Russian ISP's to
offer branded IPTV services without having to deploy the infrastructure
normally needed to provide those services. The company compiles and
manages all the service's content at a facility in Moscow, and then
makes it available, complete with custom-branded interfaces for each
of its ISP customers, using Kasenna LivingRoom and MediaBase
servers in multiple regional locations. According to the company, all its
customers need to do in order to begin offering IPTV services is to
connect their customers to one of these regional solutions. "We looked
at all the credible IPTV solutions in the market, and Kasenna offered
the only platform that gave us out-of-the-box functionality, integrated
easily with our ecosystem partners but also allowed us to rapidly
customize the interface for each broadband operator customer,"
Content-House CEO, Roman Kurguzov, said in a prepared statement.
"With this solution, we were able to build a complete IPTV offering
within weeks and know we will be in control of its future."
According to Kasenna, Content-House plans to add network PVR to its
service later this year, as well as a user portal that will be developed
using the Kasenna LivingRoom SDK.
