AFDESI Elects New Board of Directors

AFDESI, the French professional organization for interactive television, has elected a new board that will serve for the next two years. The new board is comprised of:

--Regis Saint Girons (president) of OpenTV Europe
--Bachir Ghalayini (VP of events) of Newscreens
--Jean-Christophe Jubin (VP of international relations) of HTTV
--Pierre Marchal (VP of mobile TV) of Qualcomm
--Frederic Tapissier (VP of technologies) of NDS
--Laurant Weill (VP of relations with institutions and the US) of Visiware.

The organization says that one of the new board's main priorities will be to create a market for interactive TV on digital terrestrial television in France (in order to achieve this, it is setting up a working group in p*artnership with the main French DTT channels, and plans to deliver proposals to regulatory body, CSA, in the fall), and also to support similar initiatives throughout Europe: "New decoders, with HD, MPEG-4 and IP functionalities are opening new perspectives for our industry," Incoming president, Saint Girons, said in a prepared statement.
