Israeli IPTV technology provider, Optibase, has signed an agreement with SeaChange International, a US-based company that offers a range of VOD, interactive TV, advanced advertising and IPTV solutions, under which the companies plan to extend the interoperability of their respective IPTV products. Specifically, the deal will see Optibase integrating its media gateways with SeaChange's TV Platform; this integration, the companies say, will enable Optibase's telco and hybrid network customers to deliver rich media over xDSL and other IP-based networks. Optibase's Media Gateway product line encodes, transcodes, transmits and recasts live video in real time; SeaChange's TV Platform, meanwhile, is an IPTV solution that includes modular client-set-top, network and backoffice software options designed to allow operators to quickly launch a range of subscriber services. The companies say that their respective solutions are built on open, standards-based architectures to ease integration and accelerate time-to-market: according to SeaChange, TV Platform, whether deployed as an end-to-end solution or in modules, allows operators to "plug and play" carrier-grade equipment, such as Optibase's Media Gateway (MGW) 5100. "Leveraging SeaChange's vast experience in client middleware and Optibase's expertise in high-quality video streaming over IP networks enables us to offer a truly integrated IPTV solution," Optibase's VP of marketing, Yossi Aloni, said in a prepared statement. "Expanding the Optibase IPTV ecosystem, we will utilize our respective competitive advantages to drive IPTV opportunities. This partnership extends our range of superior solutions to provide network operators with a highly reliable IPTV solution."
In other Optibase news: the company and its Indian partner, broadband content services provider, Time Broadband, say that they are expanding the IPTV solution they provide to Indian state-owned telco, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. (MTNL). MTNL recently launched IPTV services through Time Broadband, using Optibase's MGW 5100 platform for its digital IPTV headend operation at the company's Network Operation Center. Following this initial deployment of Optibase MGW 5100 headends providing 26 channels of streaming, Optibase has now supplied an additional 74 channels for a total of 100 MPEG-4 Part 10 H.264/AVC channels. Optibase and Time Broadband are enabling the launch of MTNL's IPTV services in Delhi, one of India's wealthier areas that enjoys higher-than-average broadband penetration for the country. "During the initial deployment, Optibase demonstrated their extensive IPTV know-how relating to H.264 AVC," Time Broadband managing director, Sujata Dev, said in a prepared statement. "We were impressed by the quality of the Optibase solution and the superior level of service. Therefore we decided to select the Optibase MGW 5100 integrated digital head ends for the full-scale commercial launch. We are confident that this productive relationship with the high level of commitment from Optibase will continue into the future with our plans for further growth of our IPTV services in prominent locations of the Indian market through multiple telecom operator relationships."
