VeriSign has expanded its relationship with NBC Universal by providing a new mobile voting service to NBC Sports. The company--which provides the backend technology platform that enables interactivity on many high-profile NBC shows (so far this year, it has powered the "Lucky Case Game" for "Deal or No Deal," which, according to NBC has received over 57 million entries and awarded over a million in cash prizes to date; it has also powered a trivia game for "Treasure Hunters" and the winner votes for "The Apprentice" and "Top Chef")--is now powering a nationwide "Player of the Day" vote during the show, "Football Night in America." The vote debuted earlier this month during a game between the Indianapolis Colts and the New York Giants: viewers could vote via their mobiles (or online at NBCSports.com) during the game's first half, and the winner was announced at halftime. "With the launch of NBCSports.com, we wanted new ways to interact with viewers of 'Football Night in America,'" Perkins Miller, SVP of digital media for NBC Sports & Olympics, said in a prepared statement. "The 'Player of the Day' vote is an exciting way for our audience to participate--and VeriSign enables us to extend this campaign to mobile phone users."
