Comedy Central has announced a new development slate for its broadband TV service, Motherload (note: the latter, which launched November 1st, 2005, currently offers an extensive line-up of original programming, including animation, live-action narratives, stand-up performances and sketch comedies; a stand-up comedy show that premiered on the service, "Live at Gotham," is scheduled to debut on Comedy Central's linear-TV channel on July 21st). The slate includes 20 original shows. Projects from the slate that are currently in production include:
- "Balloonheads" (10 episodes), a series from Canada's Eggplant Productions featuring characters that have balloons for heads.
- "Baxter & McGuire (8 episodes), an animated series chronicling the adventures of a pair of testicles. The show was created by Michael J. Weithorn, creator of "The King of Queens," and writer/actor/dancer, Nick Bakay.
- "Good God" (6 episodes), a live-action comedy about God's workplace environment. The show was developed by Hungry Man.
- "Honesty" (6 episodes), which centers on "a world where everyone [says] exactly what they [are] thinking," and which was created by commercial director, Britt McAdams, and producer, Dave Steck.
- "Judge Fudge" (6 episodes), a spin-off of the Comedy Central animated reality TV spoof, "Drawn Together." The show, which was created by "Drawn Together" creators, Matt Silverstein and Dave Jeser, follows "Drawn Together" character, Judge Fudge, as he attempts to avenge the murder of his partner.
- Moonwalk 1986" (6 episodes), which centers on the adventures of two astronauts on the moon and their banal conversations during their missions. The show was created, produced and written by Josh Koppel and Matt Peccini.
- "Mike Birbiglia's Secret Public Journal" (6 episodes), a videoblog in which stand-up comedian, Mike Birbiglia, records his life on tour.
Projects from the new slate that are currently in development include:
- "8 Bit Bytes," an animated show, from production company, Flickerlab, and writer, Rusty Cundieff, that uses old videogame characters to satirize modern social and racial issues.
- "Flex and Zephyr," an animated show from JWToo Productions that follows the adventures of two "metrosexual" vice cops.
- "Guacamole," a comedic soap opera starring a tub of guacamole and his best friend, a bowl of minestrone. The show is written and voiced by Michael Blieden and Matt Price.
- "Monsters," a series, written by Paul Rodenburg, that centers on four monsters who all live in the same castle.
- "Send Help," a two-man sketch show produced by Summerhill Television.
- "Super Stupid Dog," an animated show written, directed and animated by Ken McIntyre.
- "Time Traveler," a show in which the lead character, a time traveler for hire, constantly tries to prove himself a hero, despite his lack of talent. The show is written by Mike Betette and Phillip Mottaz.
- "The Watch List," a series devoted to stand-up acts and sketches from Middle Eastern, Arabic and Jewish comedians. The show is produced by Dean Obeidallah (co-founder of the Arab-American Comedy Festival) and Max Brooks ("Saturday Night Live").
- "Window Seat," an animated series about a put-upon business traveler and the various characters who sit next to him on a plane. The show is being produced by Radical Axis.
