Visiware Launching Triple-Play Games Offering

Visiwaretripleplayintvlogo2006 Interactive TV games company, Visiware, plans to launch what it claims will be the first "triple-play" (i.e. interactive TV, mobile and broadband) games offering. The company, whose interactive TV games have been widely deployed around the world, has rolled out a mobile version of its Playin'TV interactive TV games channel in France that can be accessed by customers of TPS, Canalsat, Numericable and Noos/UPC. It says that it will launch a broadband version of the channel next month.

According to Visiware, players will be able to maintain their game level, score and "context" between all three platforms. "This is the first ever triple-play interactive games offering, a service that--at long last--grants you the freedom to play whenever you like, on your TV, on your mobile phone, on your PC and other Flash-compatible devices," Visiware founder and president, Laurant Weill, wrote in an email to [itvt].

The distribution platform for games on Visiware's new mobile service, as well as its billing and CRM platform, is provided by Netsize's mSuites content management software suite. Netsize has also developed a customer-profiling solution specifically for the new service: the solution allows all mobile Playin'TV users to be automatically recognized and redirected to a "personal space" on the service, which contains community features and from which they can access their download history. The tool is also designed to let Visiware learn more about its customers, by providing an overview of each user's access and usage history. Several payment methods are supported: among other things, end-users have the choice of having a payment added to their mobile bill, or of being billed for the mobile games by their cable or satellite company if they already have a Playin'TV subscription (when the broadband version of Playin'TV launches, operators will be able to provide end-users with a single bill for game play on all three platforms). "We are seeing a fantastic interest from network operators--especially in the US--in launching our triple-play proposition and its single-subscription-fee model," Weill wrote. Visiware, which has launched Playin'TV on cable and satellite platforms in 77 countries, says that it plans to initially offer the triple-play version of the channel--which it is branding as "Triple-Playin'TV"--in France, Spain and Canada. It expects to roll it out in Europe, North America and Asia at a rate of four to six countries per year.
