Pace Micro Appoints New CEO, New Chairman

Neilgaydon UK set-top box manufacturer, Pace Micro Technology, has appointed a new CEO and a new non-executive chairman. The new CEO is Neil Gaydon; he succeeds John Dyson, who is retiring. A member of the company's board since 2002 and an employee since 1995, Gaydon was previously director of worldwide sales and marketing, leading the company's product and customer strategy, and heading up its sales, marketing, technology and product management teams. From 1999 to 2003, he served as president and general manager of Pace Americas, leading the company's efforts to penetrate the US market. The new non-executive chairman is Mike McTighe, who succeeds Sir Michael Bett. McTighe, who is currently the company's senior independent director, has been a non-executive director since June, 2001, and will take over as chairman on May 1st, following Bett's retirement. He is a director of London Metal Exchange Holdings Ltd., and a non-executive director of Alliance & Leicester, plc. According to Pace Micro, he has held a range of senior roles in the global telecommunications and technologies sectors, including executive director and chief executive of global operations at Cable & Wireless. "I'm delighted that I can hand over the Pace chairmanship to such an experienced and capable individual at this important time in the Group's business development," Betts said in a prepared statement. "Mike has considerable industry experience, which together with his business background, makes him the ideal candidate to take on the chairman's role. With Mike's appointment today and Neil Gaydon's appointment as chief executive officer earlier this month, Pace now has a strong leadership team in place to take the company forward into its next stage of development." Pace has also promoted David McKinney from director of engineering and operations to COO. In his new role, which will not see him taking a seat on the board, McKinney, who joined the company just last year, will lead its engineering and operations teams.
