VOD and IPTV technology provider, Entone Technologies, and content-security specialist, Verimatrix, say that they have integrated Entone's StreamLiner Network Video Recorder (NVR) with Verimatrix's Content Authority System (VCAS), in a bid to provide IPTV service providers with a content-security solution that can be quickly and easily deployed, and that streamlines the processing and delivery of VOD assets. With most DRM systems, VOD content is distributed over a core network and stored at the operator's site on a standalone system called a "catcher": the content is then copied manually to another server, where encryption technology is applied, and then copied again to an on-site VOD server. However, Entone and Verimatrix say that the integration of their respective technologies will allow operators to avoid the step of copying files: with VCAS running natively on the StreamLiner platform, the companies say, when a new VOD asset appears on the catcher, StreamLiner automatically copies the content and moves it to a VOD server for playout--thus resulting in a simpler workflow that is less prone to errors. The companies say that their integrated solution is currently being deployed by a number of IPTV operators around the world.
