MSO Comcast is offering exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the band Bon Jovi's ongoing North American "Sprint Presents Have a Nice Day Tour" on its Comcast On Demand VOD service and on its broadband Web site, Comcast.net. (Note: the Bon Jovi footage is available on Comcast.net's The Music Channel, which allows customers to listen to music from tens of thousands of artists, view music videos using a broadband player dubbed the Music Fan, and access news and information on the music industry.) Content on offer includes coverage of Bon Jovi and its stage crew preparing for the tour's first show in Des Moines, Iowa; coverage of a "stripped down" concert the band gave for military personnel at the Fort Monmouth army base; and coverage of the making of the videos for the singles "Who Says You Can't Go Home Again" and "Welcome to Wherever You Are."
Comcast says that music is the fasting growing category on its VOD service: customers ordered music videos on the service 33 million times in November, compared to 14 million times in February--an increase of 135%. Other music-related content on the service includes concert footage, guitar and voice lessons and karaoke.
