Lifetime Entertainment Services, a company that specializes in programming for women, has appointed Lynn Picard to the newly created position of EVP of interactive entertainment. Picard, who was previously EVP of sales at the company (in which role she oversaw advertising sales for Lifetime Television, Lifetime Movie Network and Lifetime Real Women), has also been promoted to president of ad sales; in addition, she will continue to serve as general manager of Lifetime Television.
According to Lifetime, in her new role Picard will oversee the company's Web site, as well as its various wireless, broadband and games offerings, and a number of projects on new platforms which the company says are scheduled to launch later this year. She has already led a number of new technology initiatives for the company, including the launch of its broadband TV service, Video Lounge, which offers behind-the-scenes clips of its programming. "As Lifetime vigorously expands our position as the leading multiplatform provider of entertainment for women, Lynn's outstanding relationships with both colleagues and clients will serve Lifetime well as she navigates new business models and revenue streams for the innovative interactive content we have planned for our future," Lifetime president and CEO, Betty Cohen, said in a prepared statement. "Those skills, along with Lynn's extraordinary record of accomplishment in her twin roles overseeing our prosperous ad sales department and the mother ship, Lifetime Television cable channel, made her the ideal person to assume this exciting challenge." Picard joined Lifetime as SVP of advertising sales in 1994. Her career prior to that included stints at ESPN Networks, and at advertising agencies Della Femina McNamee and HBM/Creamer.
