BBC's "Gorillaz" Red-Button Interactive TV Application Proves Popular

The BBC says that a red-button application which its rock and pop radio channel, Radio 1, offered for seven days last November (see [itvt] Issue 6.39 Part 3) and which presented video footage from a concert in Manchester by the cartoon band, Gorillaz, was accessed by over 150,000 digital satellite viewers. The app was also available on digital cable and on the UK's free-to-air digital terrestrial service, Freeview; however, usage figures are not available for those platforms. It was accessed by pressing red while tuned to any BBC TV channel on digital satellite and digital cable, or to the Radio 1 feed carried by the UK's free-to-air digital terrestrial platform, Freeview.
