Cox Using Concurrent MediaHawk 4000 for Northern Virginia VOD Launch

VOD equipment provider, Concurrent, says that cable MSO, Cox Communications, has chosen its MediaHawk 4000 platform for the launch of VOD services in its Northern Virginia division, which services Fairfax County and the Fredericksburg region, and which has around 150,000 subscribers. Cox's VOD services include pay-per-view movies, subscription-based programming services, and a range of free content. The MSO has an established relationship with Concurrent, having deployed the MediaHawk 4000 in a number of its other markets, including San Diego, Las Vegas and Oklahoma City. "We chose Concurrent's on-demand technology for its proven reliability and its forward-thinking architectural foundation that will support even more advanced, future on-demand applications," Gary McCollum, VP and regional manager of Cox Northern Virginia, said in a prepared statement.
