The French Association for Interactive Television (generally known by its French acronym, AFDESI), has revised the categories for its 2006 International Interactive TV Awards, adding new award categories for "Call TV" ( participation TV) and for "Interactive TV Services on Mobiles." The awards, now in their fourth year, will be presented on April 4th in a ceremony at the Grand Hotel Majestic in Cannes, during the MIP TV show. (Note: This year, [itvt] is teaming with AFDESI to offer a special award recognizing a leader in European interactive TV: the award is an extension of the [itvt] Awards for Leadership in Interactive Television, which for the past two years have been presented at the NCTA's National Show.) The award categories are: Jury "Grand Prix"; [itvt] European ITV Leadership Award; Call TV; ITV Services on Mobiles; Innovation and Technology; Design and Graphics; Standalone Services; Enhanced Television Services; Advertising, Marketing, Tcommerce; Games, Betting and Gambling; and Best ITV Audiovisual Work.
The International ITV Awards are open to any company (including operators, broadcasters, developers and others) that were involved in a live ITV service during 2005, or--in the case of the Innovation and Technology category--that are involved in the production of a concept. The awards recognize interactive TV excellence on all platforms, including set-top boxes, and fixed-line and mobile phones. Registration forms are available on AFDESI's Web site (www.afdesi.org), and the closing date for entries is January 14th.
