--Expects Growth in its VOD, Mobile Content, TV Navigation Businesses
Interactive TV playout and design company, Red Bee Media (note: the company was formerly a BBC business unit called BBC Broadcast, which was recently sold to Creative Broadcast Services, a company 65% owned by Macquarie Capital Alliance Group and 35% owned by Macquarie Bank), says that it is reshuffling its management team to align itself for growth. According to the company, areas of its business that it has targeted for growth over the coming year include VOD, mobile content and TV navigation services. It also hopes to expand its international presence and to gain new business in the playout, access services and creative sectors in the UK.
The company is consolidating strategy development; sales, marketing and communications; client management; and research and development of new technologies and products into an integrated Business Development department. John Pink will serve as director of business development, and CTO, Chris Howe, and director of access services, Ruth Griffiths, will also join the new department. Meanwhile, the operations of Red Bee's Access Services, Playout and Media Services, Production Village, Technology Support, and Projects business units will be consolidated into a new Operations department, in what the company says is an attempt to achieve efficiencies and improve service delivery for its clients. Richard Cartland has been appointed as director of operations, and will be responsible for organizing the merger of the various business units into the new department. According to Red Bee, Cartland has spent 27 years in the UK communications sector, and has substantial experience with mergers and corporate reorganizations. His career has included stints at BT, Virgin, Thales, Telewest Broadband, and Compagnie Generale des Eaux (Vivendi). Andy Bryant, meanwhile, will continue to lead Red Bee's Creative department, and will be tasked with working closely with the new Business Development department in order to grow the company's creative business internationally.
