New York City-based Cauldron Solutions, a company that develops software designed to allow providers of on-demand media to better manage the distribution of their content and transactions related to that content (its customers include Cablevision, Comcast, Cox, and Rainbow Media), has appointed Daniel Sweeney as SVP of sales and marketing. According to Cauldron, he will be responsible for all the company's global sales and marketing initiatives, overseeing the creation and utilization of sales and marketing materials, working with customers on new and current programs, and building and managing strategic relationships. Sweeney joins Cauldron after a four-year stint as an SVP at NTN's interactive TV games subsidiary, Buzztime, where his responsibilities included consumer business marketing, new business development, contract negotiations, PR, research and product development strategy. Prior to that, he was an SVP at Gemstar-TV Guide, where, according to Cauldron, he was responsible for national accounts, field sales and local advertising sales for six different products. Before that, he was a VP at Prevue Networks, where he was responsible for marketing, product research, national accounts, field sales and programming. He holds a BS in communications and marketing from Xavier University.
