OpenTV in Multi-Year Deal with Basque MSO, Euskaltel

Liberty Media-owned interactive TV middleware and applications provider, OpenTV, has signed a multi-year license agreement with Euskaltel, an MSO that operates cable networks in Spain's Basque region. The deal will see Euskaltel deploying OpenTV's Core middleware with the latter's HTML Package and DOCSIS support. The middleware will run on advanced set-top boxes from UEC Technologies and will support a variety of ITV services, including an EPG, games, chat, email and Web browsing. "Euskaltel selected OpenTV for the broad, compelling portfolio of ITV products and solutions that it offers," Inaki Alzaga, Euskaltel's strategy and business development director, said in a prepared statement. "As we strive to become a leader in delivering interactive television services to our customers, we believe that OpenTV offers the products, services and experience to help us achieve that goal."
