Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey has launched an interactive TV polling application. The application, which was built by Navic Networks (note: Time Warner Cable also offers Navic-powered ITV apps on its Albany and Hawaii systems), debuted on the operator's local 24-hour news channel, NY1 News, during the channel's live coverage of Tuesday's New York City Democratic mayoral primary. Starting at 8:00PM, Time Warner Cable subscribers were able to answer a series of questions posed by NY1 producers and participate in viewer polls by using three keys on their remote to select between three multiple-choice responses--each possible response was designated by a colored icon representing the corresponding remote key. The questions popped up on-screen throughout the evening, and the results were compiled and reported back to viewers within minutes. Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey says that it will shortly roll out additional interactive TV applications, including a customer care app.
