--Develops ProGuide App to Accompany NFL Sunday Ticket Interactive
Canadian pay-TV provider, Bell ExpressVu, has entered into a strategic alliance with interactive TV technology and services provider, GoldPocket Interactive, under which the companies will work together to deliver what they term "unique on-demand capabilities" to Bell ExpressVu satellite customers equipped with ITV-capable set-top boxes. The companies have in fact already begun collaborating on a high-profile ITV project: Bell ExpressVu's soon-to-launch NFL Sunday Ticket Interactive, which will feature a service called ProGuide, created, managed and delivered using GoldPocket's technology. The service will allow viewers to access game updates (for example, information on current scores and ball possession) and to switch between live games: viewers will be able to tune to another NFL game from within the ProGuide application by highlighting the game they want and then pressing "select" or the two-digit number of the corresponding channel. When viewers are watching a game in full-screen mode, Scoring Alerts and Red Zone Alerts (when a team is within 20 yards of the end zone) will appear, allowing them to jump to another game with a single press of a button. The GoldPocket-Bell ExpressVu alliance will also see GoldPocket providing the latter with end-to-end digital production, management and delivery systems to speed up creation of advanced ITV applications.
