Houston-based digital home entertainment software provider, Meedio, has launched two new products in recent days: Meedio TV and Meedio Express. Meedio TV is a DVR application that runs on Microsoft Windows XP computers and uses a TV tuner to enable users to watch, pause, rewind and, of course, record live television broadcasts. Among other things, it includes a free subscription to a 10-day EPG that allows users to search and browse programs by time, channel, title, keyword, cast or any custom-defined category; supports viewing and recording from multiple tuners simultaneously with no additional fees; records from a direct video input or from external cable and satellite set-top boxes; and manages special European channels and frequencies. It is available as a standalone product for $39.99, or combined with the Meedio Essentials digital media center as a $79.99 bundle called Meedio Pro. Both Meedio TV and Meedio Essentials can be operated with a remote control and connected to a standard- or high-definition TV.
Meedio Express, which is a limited-feature version of Meedio Essentials, is a free software application for Windows 2000 and Windows XP computers that lets users access digital photos and music from their television set. It features, among other things, a music library, a music player, picture albums, picture slideshows, a scheduled music importer, a program launcher, multi-user logins with PIN access, and five full-screen themes that can be navigated with a remote control. Meedio is hoping that users of Meedio Express will opt to upgrade to Meedio Essentials.
