TVN in Deals with Music Choice, Fuse, Gospel Music Channel, BlueHighways TV

Music programmer, Music Choice, has signed an agreement with VOD distribution services company, TVN Entertainment, that designates the latter as its "preferred provider" of VOD services, including encoding, distribution and asset management. Among other things, the agreement will allow Music Choice to use TVN's TVNow rapid-turnaround service, which is designed to enable programs to be transformed into VOD assets within hours of their broadcast. Music Choice says it will use TVN's services to offer a variety of music-related content targeted at the 14-25 demographic, including music videos, concert footage, in- studio performance programming, and artist interviews. "We are extremely pleased to be working with Music Choice, not only because of the scope of the agreement, but because it allows us to introduce a younger audience to the VOD experience--kids and teenagers, who will hopefully choose VOD for their long-term use," TVN's VP of business development, Matt Cohen, said in a prepared statement. "Music Choice also offers unique and compelling music-related content which is an asset to our wide variety of VOD offerings."

In other TVN Entertainment news: the company has just announced that it has signed multi-year VOD services agreements with music programmers, Fuse and the Gospel Music Channel, and with BlueHighways TV (note: the latter, which specializes in programming on American folklore, folk music, traditions, artistry and festivals, will launch its VOD service on a number of Bresnan Communications' systems next month; the service will offer around 20 hours of programming, refreshed on a monthly basis). The deal will see TVN providing the programmers with encoding, delivery and asset management solutions. According to TVN, BlueHighways TV and the Gospel Music Channel have designated it as their "preferred provider," thus gaining access to certain additional VOD services, including TVNow and support for HD and various advanced codecs.
