SysMedia, a UK-based company that specializes in subtitling technologies and in content-management and production systems for teletext and interactive TV, says that it is providing core infrastructure technology for Sky Interactive's newly revamped Sports BettingZone. The latter, which can be accessed via Sky's ITV portal, Sky Active, or from the BettingZone on Sky's interactive main menu, provides constantly refreshed sports news, results and statistics, as well as access to the various bookmakers that offer interactive betting services on the Sky platform. SysMedia--whose technology also drives Sky's SkyText service on the Sky platform and on the UK's free-to-air digital terrestrial platform, Freeview--was contracted to expand the capabilities of its interactive content production and management system, Plasma Gold, to integrate editorial content within the service using Sky's Microbrowser technology: according to the company, journalists and other content producers on Sports BettingZone can now use a single, user-friendly interface to enter content for publishing to multiple platforms. "This contract once again highlights Plasma Gold's ability to flexibly handle content production for multiple middleware formats as required by the broadcaster for a variety of interactive services," SysMedia CEO, Andrew Lambourne, said in a prepared statement. "As Sky Interactive's services expand, so it has been able to leverage SysMedia's technology to facilitate that growth."
